Cults over Consultants
Peter Thiel once argued that the best startups look a lot like a softer version of a cult. This sounds extreme, but it highlights why normal companies often fail to build anything meaningful. Most businesses act like consulting firms, where people are emotionally detached and just waiting for the workday to end. True builders do the opposite. A great startup requires a team that is deeply committed to a hidden truth that the rest of the world completely ignores. If outsiders look at your company culture and think it is a bit weird, you are probably on the right track.
